I'm stuck again. Some of you know that I sent my power brake booster to have it rebuilt. The shop called me and said they don't have parts for a Kelsey-Hays. They were going to ship it back to me and that I should call Karps. So I did. They said to email them pics of the booster because 65 Dodge Monaco's normally came with a Midland-Ross. I haven't heard back from them. I don't know if Dad put in an older power booster of if indeed this was original to the car. I am trying very hard to restore the car back to original condition. Question would be..is the Kelsey-Hays stock or do I go looking for a Midland? Any suggestions? 20140206_120632.jpg20140206_120708.jpg20140206_120642.jpg

Interesting information. I never got a call back from Karps after I send them pics. So upon the advice of some here I called BoosterDewey. Spoke with Steve who had lots of knowledge about C-body boosters. The 65 Monaco originally came with a Midland-Ross. If for some reason it needed to be replaced the dealership would replace it with a Kelsey-Hays. Due to the high rate of failure of the Kelsey they stopped manufacturing it towards the early 70's. So here is where I am at. I am looking for a Midland that fits on the car. Because I am going with a dual MC...I believe I will need an adapter plate to fit between the PB and the MC. I've looked at previous threads and that is how I've come to that conclusion. Never in my wildest dreams/nightmares did I think I would know what a PB and a MC was. Thanks guys for all your knowledge and wisdom....and the fact that you would take the time out to help...well, it's awesome. Disclaimer: Not sucking up to anyone...just pure thankfulness.

Seemed like yesterday that you... LOL

PB... You refering to the booster and the MC?
I'm told that the commonly available 65 Mustang Midland unit with a dual master cylider swaps in.

Oh, Stan! I'm trying to tell history here. The pic you sent was to big. So, never in my life have I ever said that "it's to big". But, this booster is "to big". Ohhh my...some one needs to tell me that they have a core...cheap. Not that I'm cheap.

The 1965-1968 Midland Ross booster from any C Body will work. You don't need one specific to the double reservoir car. The booster can't tell whether its a single round pot 65-66. or the 67-68. the push-rods the same length. Just be sure when you get a core that it has the master cylinder to booster flange seal. Its part of what keeps the rod adjusted properly, and it also balances the pressure inside the booster. That's what Booster Dewey told me about the seal.

Stan, There's nothing that keeps it from bolting up. Both the early 65-66 single round pot, and later dual reservoir
masters have 4 stud holes. They use the same booster. Just a matter of her getting the midland/ross booster.

After dealing with this problem for a while.......... There is a guy I found Named Wayne Brown TheRamman. I called him up explained my problem. He immediately set me on the right course to getting it resolved. I spoke with him on 4 different occasions. He is a great guy to deal with, and an asset to the Mopar community. He took the time out of his day to walk me through what to do. He also rebuilds, and supply's the Mopar world with Hard to find parts. All his info is free of charge. He simply wants to help you. If you have a brake issue that has you stumped don't hesitate to call him. http://www.theramman.com/

Here's an update on my car:
It's fixed!! There were several different issues going on that needed addressing. First a new completely rebuilt Booster from Booster Dewey. Second I found out my rear brake lines had obstructions in them keeping me from having complete fluid flow. and full pedal when stopping/bleeding. Third my rear rubber brake hose was old, and collapsed on the inside. I pushed fluid through it and it flowed........ but when hooked up it was so restricted. I put compressed air to it and it barely pushed 10psi. I pulled the distribution block and thoroughly blew it out and cleaned it, I also blew out the lines from the dist. block rearward. And also blew out the front metal lines from dist. block. Now there is free flowing fluid in all directions. No obstructions. We bleed all line and purged all air. Car brakes excellent now.
I'd be on the phone now...

I just answered Marion's pm and I'll have to apologize. I told her she could have it for 20 bucks and now that I've seen this what I meant to say was $420.

Sold! She's got her brake booster.

I used to celebrate 4:20 several times a day but no more. High on life now!
