We've had the car since new. No modifications to the a/c control system, from new, either.

After I'd finished this post's responses . . . . --
I went to www.mymopar.com and searched the MasterTech info for 1972 a/c systems. MTSC 1972 72-6 Air Conditioning Systems was the result. The first sections are concerned with the A and B body cars. After about the 10:55 point, it's all C-body information, with the ATC being being after that. It answers many questions as to how the C-body non-automatic hvac system is designed and works. Plus some later-production changes.
