After 4 years of participation finally made it into the money rounds so to speak, came in with a 3rd place in cub scouts pine wood derby . Car is his design I stayed out of it , just did heavy lifting/cutting he did all sanding and even some work on Axel polishing.

That's great! Scouts is a great organization and great for the boys. My oldest almost made it to Eagle, but discovered girls and cars, so he got a little distracted.

He likes my Charger best out of what I have and he is not to hot on fender skirts so bigger cars and Dodge or Plymouth apparently, convertible we will see. He gone to look at some c bodies with me, seems interested I've been floating the idea of him coming to Carlisle maybe in a couple of years he is not into the roughing it, LOL.

My middle daughter, now 22 has been to every Chrysler at Carlisle event since 1993. My fifteen year old son has yet to miss one, his first one he was three months old............ MAKE HIM GO

I'm working on it its the camping/roughing at Carlisle he has been at the nats since 1 year old and Norwalk 5-6 years

I'm not camping... so it doesn't matter to me, but I know a lot of people that do.

I'm not camping... so it doesn't matter to me, but I know a lot of people that do.

I haven't heard we just camp right at swap spot, I know they frown on staying in show field

I have fond memories of building pinewood derby cars with my pops. We never placed, but always got an award for best looking car. We did however dominate the rain gutter regatta, with a catamaran and a stiff sail. I still have my pinewood cars and the catamaran.

There has been some good coverage in Collectible Automobile Mag a couple years ago. Many talented youth designers got in the focus of GM design that way and started a career. Think they're still holding meets for former contestants.



Congrats to your boy's success, too 70 BBD. Never had "the balls" to start a family myself. LOL

I sent for all the stuff to enter when I was a kid. It was way above my head at that point in my life, so I never went any further with it.
I'll bet I still have the book they sent somewhere.
