I am thinking about a quartz movement so I don't have to pull the cluster just to tinker with the old clock again. Anyone know what kit fits these cars? And, please, I am looking for info for This Car, not your Buddy's father-in-law's 58 Edsel. Thank You.

I'd contact Instrument Services Inc in Illinois...815 316 2921...the kit I put in my 68 23 yrs ago still works

Don't be surprised if you can't get a quartz conversion for your application. I looked into it once and they didn't have them for my '70 300.

I used these guys ://www.clockwks.com/Servicex.html

I like the tic-tic of the original clocks myself.

IF you might get energetic, you can take your existing clock out, open it up, and clean the contact points in it. Just like ignition points, they get grunged with age. It's my understanding that once cleaned and freshened, they work as new.

Just some thoughts,

Oh, I definitely prefer the original, but pulling the clock to clean the points is a horrendous job---Have you taken out the cluster in one of these?

CBDY67-- I've done that many times on many cars. Thanks for the advice-- I'm sure someone will benefit from it. This one is such a nightmare to get to the clock, I don't want to have to do it again---too big a chance of messing something up or breaking something. --Yogi
