Hello. I just registered on the site looking for some help from guys who know the C body Mopar, specifically a 68 Polara. I've been restoring A, B and E body cars for years but a local fella here (87 years old and can't drive anymore) would like to see is originally purchased 68 back on the road. I've decided to take on the job. Just saw the car last night in his garage. Original Turquoise paint with nice black interior. Car appears to have no rust. His brother and I couldn't get the trunk lid or hood open so we're working on that. Owner is in rehab for a shoulder issue so he was not available to ask motor size etc...

I looked on line and there did appear to be some restoration parts available. I believe I saw the car could be a 318 or 383. I don't know which yet.

My plan is to get it running and stopping first when I get it to my house.

Thanks. I will share more info on the car as I find it along with Pictures. Right now it is layered with dust.

Sorry title says 67 but it is a 68. My bad already !!

Welcome to the site and I look forward to seeing this project. There are tons of info on this forum to help with your restoration and lots of great people. Make sure you take some pictures of it in its original resting place. The more the better!

Good Luck on the resto.

Welcome and thank you for a worthwhile endeavor.
When you post the pics, a clear shot of the Fender Tag will go a long way in helping.

Sounds like a good project, is it going to be a mechanical resto/preservation? Or blow it apart and touch every area and system?

No just a get it running and stopping right now. This car is real nice under all the dust I bet. Original paint and interior. I plan to preserve as much as possible that is original. That's the way I have done my Bees, Roadrunners and Cudas.

All the best on your project. Im doing the same car right now some parts right down the street @ Oreillyauto...others ebay or parts cars, lots of wonderfully generous people here helping each other

Depending on what your looking for some parts are really hard to find. I have had some luck on Ebay. Just search under 67 polara. One thing though , I love my ride and Im still looking for parts. Good luck and have fun with that car

Sorry I messed up on the year when typing the title. It's actually a 68. I should have pictures soon of how it sits today.

Good luck with your project. Keep us up to date with pics & info. Lots of good knowledgeable people here who are more than happy to share their experience.

Thanks I will definitely need the help. I'm finding as already stated that there isn't a whole lot of Polara specific restoration parts out there. Also found out yesterday that Legendary doesn't have the seat covers.

They have patterns from other models that will interchange very nicely with no alterations.
The just may not have THE specific Year, Make, Model.
They didnt have my 67 Newport but the 68 300 was perfectly acceptable. It's not like you're going to have your car Concours judged...

Welcome can't wait for pictures. I have been off and on restoring my 68 2 door for the last 10 years. If you don't have to tear it all apart don't.

If you need help on how something comes apart or goes back together don't hesitate. I have tried to document most parts and assemblies with photos

Great. Thanks. I'm still trying to get pictures. It's been a bit nippy around here the last couple of weeks.
