If a general, run of the mill car guy cannot appreciate a Forward Look Design, or any other iconic design for that matter, such as a '57 Chevy, mid '60's Mustang Fastback or 1st gen Rivieras, is he really a car guy? Most car guys that I know appreciate them and most would like to have each in their garage but cost and space prevent most from owning a fleet. Automotive appreciation does tend to be dwindling, at least for American classics. Gen X'ers tend to flock toward Mustang Fox Bodies as I've seen some documented restorations of those online and the Millennials like to tinker with and race imports. That is actually quite popular here in SoCal. I wouldn't say the car hobby is dying, just heading in a different direction. Our cars are closer to being considered antiques. New "classics" are arising.

Once again you are extrapolating your experience, desires, and likes onto someone else and going why don't they see and what is wrong with them. Sorry, but yes, they are car guys just not in your particular mold plain and simple. A Porsche fanatic is a car guy and while he doesn't know Virgil he does know Ferdinand. Likewise a Ford guy knows his niche but most likely very little out of the Mopar or GM niche.

Last, I never said it was dying, instead like an environment that is changing. Some will go extinct and others new forms of life will take their place.

Maybe I'm in the minority as I appreciate most all makes and models; brand agnostic, if you will.

I am a die hard Mopar guy but can appreciate other classic cars.

I can appreciate desing icons like a VW Beetle or the Citroen DS from 1955 even though I do not like them, want to own them etc. But they do have a significant place in design history.

IMHO it is not important to know the name of the person who was responsible for styling. But having some "general" knowledge about old cars will result in the knowledge what kind of cars are seen as icons.

Unfortunatly typical Mopar C-Bodies from 1965-1978 are not such design icons for the majority of people and will probably be forgotten in 50 years. So we will be the caretakers who love them but we don't know if someone is going to follow us.

My C-Bodies will probably be cast aside when I'm gone......I don't have any family members that don't see anything in my cars except $$$. They are going to mad when they figure out how little these cars are worth! LOL!

Agreed Bob, to us c body owners, they're our pride and joy, to us they are priceless, enjoy them while you can and to the rest... oh well.
