Something about this hobby that I guess I get, but still bugs me anyway is, that as ridiculous as that car may be, if the factory had done that to it, we would all be drooling over it. Nobody would be laughing at it. We would all be saying how rare it is and how we wish we had it. If you or I build it, it isn't worth a damn thing.

I wouldn't have spent my money doing that to it either. I would have stopped with the wheels and some chrome exhaust tips.

Maybe I would have done the 4-speed.

Ugly has been in for a while now. Just look at the front end of pick up trucks today.
And then you have most of the Asian vehicles.

I agree this is pretty nasty looking, but I am hesitant to outright state that hood scoops do not belong on C body cars. It really all comes down to the body lines, the size and placement of the hood scoop, color etc. For instance, I have a 1967 Chrysler 300 rag top. Many years ago I was parked at a show and shine next to a buddies 1967 GTX convertible, which had the two very low, small non functioning hood scoops that were painted the same color as the car. We both commented that given the similarities in the lines of the car and shapes of the hood, that the twin hood scoops might look really good on the drop top, as long as they were painted the body color with the chrome bezels. Now, plunking a Hemi Dart fat boy up top would make one seriously nauseated, but subtle could be ok. I might get some computer literate in my office to photo shop the scoops onto the 300 to satisfy my curiosity. CG
