I have been trouble shooting my breaks on a 67 Polara 500. I have fluid going to the rear until it gets to this splitter. Is this some sort of proportioning valve? It had a spring loaded cap on it, is it something I can replace?

Interesting. From all I know about hydraulic brakes used on cars, I find it hard to accept that it is some kind of vent. The proportioning valve idea might work as Chrysler was a pioneer of anti lock brakes but my take is it is some sort of bleeder valve. I will like reading what it actually turns out to be.

It could also be a check valve using the spring pressure to balance the system pressure, hmmm

Yep, just a junction block that splits the line to go left and right.

The bolt that holds it to the rear doubles as a vent for the rear end. IIRC, there should be a brass cap that fits over the bolt.

It's nothing any more complex than that.
