Hey all,

I just swapped my open diff for a sure grip center and doing general cleaning restoring etc. During axle install the right axle plopped right in as expected. The left side starts out nice be will not insert the last 1/4 inch (pulled and re-alinged splines made no diff)

Any idea's what I'm missing from our wealth of knowledge here?

Thank you for reading?

Start by taking both rear axles out and then check the length. Someone may have installed a wagon axle at some time in the past. What year car is this and did you replace the axle bearings?

What year does the sure grip come from?
Back in the early 60s the spacer block in the diff center section was not the same size on both center units.

Back off the adjuster on the right side axle a few turns and try it again.
