Rear heat and air condition

Is this a pretty common option on a 67 Newport Custom? I wasn't aware it had this until we got the car.

More common in the areas more near the USA-Canadian border than in the southwestern areas, I suspect. Only problem (at least on the 1965-'66 cars, is that it takes up a 6x9 hole which might be used for a speaker back there. Of course, the area between there and the lower part of the rear window is consumed by the flow-through ventilation box, mechanism, and water drains.

Just some thoughts,

I just learned this:

"My 67 New Yorker 2 door has it. In the rain, you can open the front vents and the rear vent. Allows airflow through the cabin."
