You have to identify which rear axle you have first first.

I can guarantee you its an 8 3/4 rear, what else do you need to know?

Why the urgency to change the rear bearings?

both bearings are humming bad, i would like to hear my self thing when i drive .lol. also im heading to get dual exhaust put on and the place that is going to do it is like 35 minutes away . It just need to get done asap.

The rear axle bearings aren't like the front ones. They have to be pressed on and off the axles.

Bearings.....?

both bearings are humming bad, QUOTE]
More likely as not you have an 8 3/4 axle and can buy the bearings at any parts store. Be sure they come with the race and a new retainer. You'll also need the inner and outer seals for both sides. You will need the use of a SERIOUS press to change the bearings. AND be sure to hand pack with grease as they are not lubricated by the axle lube.

Worn rear axle bearing generally do not "hum".... there will be a notable "crunch" if bad. Unlikely it is the bearings.

its my brother in laws shop, he fix's rock cory vehicles. hes got everything i just dont want to have to leave the vehicle there because i didnt get all the parts !

You remember ROCK CORY...... He was an antimated action hero from the 50's......

Or........ Maybe that was CLUTCH CARGO.......?

My convertible has been humming for six years out of the right rear, I know its the bearing but I just never fix it :dontknow:[/QUOTE]

Are you sure it's not the diff thats humming and the sound "telescoping" through the axle....?
I had a bearing in my 65 Coronet fail on a road trip last November. No sound indication until one morning leaving the Motel there was a distinct "crunch" sound from the Right rear. Most axle bearings i've repaired had these same symptoms. I've heard about axle bearing "hum", but question it's from an outer bearing.

The ring and pinion can hum if they are worn or the backlash adjustment is off. So can the carrier bearings. For the hell of it...when the last time you checked the diff oil level?
