Your problem seems to be solved. I have a 65 Newport that had the same problem. I went to the hardware store got some nylon nuts, worked great. I got extras in case I need to remove letters again. Whatever works but I agree....no tape.

Just be sure it's secure, I had a letter come off the hood on my last car (66 Olds Toronado), it went flying while I was out on Rt 80 and gouged the windshield.

The damage a letter "I" can do!

I don't think my old girl will go fast enough to make parts blow off lol!

I used the pointed part of the knife, especially in the tight areas

My problem is my old hands and fingers aren't as nimble as they used to be
