The stuff that used to haunt any boring place. One day it dissapeared just as mysteriously as it came.

From WiKi

Even with the changes in format, rocker Ted Nugent used Muzak as an icon of everything "uncool" about music. In 1986, he publicly made a $10 million bid to purchase the company with the stated intent of shutting it down. "Muzak is an evil force in today's society, causing people to lapse into uncontrollable fits of blandness," Nugent said. "It's been responsible for ruining some of the best minds of our generation." His bid was refused

Went Bankrupt in 2009 then in 2011 Mood Media purchased Muzak Holdings for $345 million.
They retired the Muzak name in 2013. Then Mood Media went belly up and sucked up by Apollo Global Management (equity firm). I had read about this recently in following up on my old favorite (1998) streaming service Radioio that finally went commercial along the Muzak line.

Fruitcake like my grandmother made back in the 40's was so freaking good probably because it contained enough rum to please both the teetotalers and my grandfather who loved his rum. The really good cakes would actually burn with a clear flame. Those were "happy" days!

The crap in the stores these days isn't fruitcake, it's just crap!
