Ooh, ahh, 256 whole kilobytes of RAM! The things that impressed us back then (as I tap out this text on a checkbook-size device that runs in gigabytes). Those computer and hard-drive prices are lower than the dollar amount that I paid for my T&C—not even adjusted for inflation.
I remember the “64” well.

I think the last time I checked the air pump down at the RaceTrak closest to me it was $1.50, I didn't look close enough to see if it had 'Tap & Pay'.

My first Big Mac <LOL was a Mac IIFX which cost like 10 grand in 1992, I got it in 1995(?) for $100.00 out of the Want AD's with a 21" Greyscale monitor.

It's also not free if you have to start your compressor.
Apparently they're used by the shoppers at the store as opposed to people driving 5 miles to get there.

a lot of people might not have access to an air compressor. like most of here with 2 or 3 . hell most could not even change tire if they had too.

haven't seen it since we left europe in 1998. i know where its (TV ... with the other 15 analog sets at went obsolete couple decades ago -- dunno why i still have them) .. in my residential storage facility.
next time im there ill see if i can fish all that stuff out, including my Atari system and see how my skills at River Raid have deteriorated.

I put one of these together, the 1963 version, I was 10 at the time and with the comments about all the parts of 4 engines I don't know how I had the patience... heh must of been the glue fumes... lol

Metal, concrete, lead paint, How did we make it? My 30 something kids tease me and tell me I DIDNT make it (their playgrounds were plastic) .. explains my odd behavior today.

Child abuse was rampant back then! Wasn't it a great time to be a kid!
My young-uns had it easy. Grew up "soft" - plastic, sand, pretty colors, railings, etc. .
I tease my kids right back, and then remind them of me walking 20 miles each way to school. Wasn't true, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I remember when they changed the playgrounds from metal to pressure treated lumber and then they immediately had to make the playground off limits to everyone because the lumber contained cyanide(?)

my 85 year old mom can tell stories of some of these death rigs.
seriously happy some of these houses of horror got retired, before my little boy, "king of the hill" bravado kicked in.
some of you older folks may have done some of these contraptions into the '50's.
