At 63 I now wake up at 6am just like when I was five. Only now its not by choice.
Only Jonny Quest and Speed Racer are not on in black and white.
1965 GE 19 inch portable TV.
Oh, and Robby The Robot was on everything.

Season five of Mission: Impossible marked a moment when the series’ core formula met a particularly memorable ensemble. Airing at the dawn of the 1970s, it reflected a world fascinated by espionage, shifting politics, and high technology. Led by Peter Graves as the unflappable team leader Jim Phelps, the show continued to refine its intricate missions, high tension, and clever deceptions.

Greg Morris, as technical wizard Barney Collier, grounded each operation with quiet competence, while Peter Lupus’ strong, dependable Willy Armitage handled the heaviest physical demands. Leonard Nimoy’s master of disguise, Paris, added sly intelligence and theatrical flair to the crew’s ever-changing identities, keeping both villains and viewers guessing with each new assignment and elaborate mask.

Lesley Ann Warren brought a fresh, youthful energy as Dana Lambert, proving she could stand shoulder to shoulder with her more seasoned colleagues in dangerous and delicate operations. Sam Elliott, appearing as fellow agent Doug Robert, added another layer of cool professionalism to the rotating roster of specialists who stepped in when the mission required reinforcements or extra firepower.

Together, this combination of faces, voices, and styles made the show’s elaborate tape-recorded briefings and “impossible” plans feel both larger than life and strangely believable. The fifth-season lineup helped cement Mission: Impossible as one of television’s definitive espionage dramas, blending suspense with clever problem-solving week after week. Decades later, audiences continue to cherish this ensemble’s chemistry and the stylish adventures they brought to life.
