Remember when?

Broke my jaw during such a Routine back in the day and needed a couple of stitches as well, but I first touched up and tried to polish out the scratches on my BMX-bike.

How about this from 1969. Niagara Falls with no water. I remember going there with my parents to see this.

I was down at the Falls this summer doing the typical touristy thing which i don't do and visited the US side.
I was 8 years old when they did this and i remember going with my parents to see this and how Dad has said that we would likely never see this too often.
I was recalling this event with another tourist from Jersey & I recalled the time.
He was surprised that they had or have the ability even today to shut the falls off with the amount of hydro electric tunnels that can take most if not all the water.

Here's one online page telling a little about this.

Do They Shut Off the Falls at Night? | Niagara Falls Canada

Since I had commented on the Niagara Falls pic, I know that none of us are old enough to have witnessed this event directly but still an cool but what the hell were they thinking picture???

The falls frozen over so let's go tramp around on it. 'What could go wrong?"
I also wonder if anyone skipped the border crossing inspection on this day...

Do They Shut Off the Falls at Night? | Niagara Falls Canada

Interesting article. I knew they diverted more at night, but I didn't know they diverted more in the winter.

I love going to Niagara Falls. Mrs. Big John and I were married on Three Sisters Island.

The American side is more "park like" and I like to walk or take the trolley to the different points. It's very cool to stand next to the falls and see the power. The city Niagara Falls has really gone downhill, but the park is still very nice. The Canadian side is great too.... More tourist type stuff and nicer accommodations.

Remember driving at night in heavy rain or wet snow with vacuum wipers and trying to pass a truck. No nostalgia there, I never ever want to do that again!!

My Dad brought a Rolls Razor back from England when he returned from WWII and he used it for many years. I don't know whatever happened with it, got lost in the late 90's, however I still have a new blade! The metal case had removable top and bottom, one side was a very fine stone and the other side was a leather strop. With the blade in the carrier, moving the carrier back and forth would slide the blade against the stone or strop depending on which cover was removed. The blade automatically flipped when the carrier direction was reversed. It was an ingenious device that allowed even the most mechanically challenged to get their razor super sharp. To shave you attached the stick handle to the blade and you had a straight razor that was close to being a safety razor so that the mechanically challenged didn't draw too much blood. Sadly the weakness in this system was the very thin stone mounted on one lid, drop it and it was toast.
