Remote Mirror removal/install

You have a remote mirror on the driver and passenger side?
Yup. Not factory on this car, but I took the entire interior and many other goodies off a 65 Monaco in a wrecking yard back in ~87 or so, it had the passenger remote so I got that as well. I've never found a reference in a sales brochure, but if you look at the back of the psgr side door panels I have yet to see one that's not pre-punched for the controls.

I've yet to see a Passenger Side Remote Mirror.

I remember that thread. Appears I got the mixed bag year. Now this leaves another riddle for me. Did 66 Dodges without a remote mirror get the twin post mirrors (what I have seen in my hunting) and remote mirror cars got the solid mount for obvious reasons? Or could you get a solid mount mirror like the 67 up mirrors. I've been looking for another twin post mirror for the passenger side and then I get this. I could just stick the control in the door panel and leave it there for looks til I figure out what door/mirror I'll end up with. What a terrible dilemma to deal with!

For those that haven't seen one....

And notice - no power vents, weren't any on any I've ever seen, 65 Dodge I mean.

That's how the remote is on the parts car. Same location for the mirror and controls.

You'll have to remove the cables from the control. Not a problem. A pair of needle nose makes quick work of it. They should be color coded and need to go back in the same slots when you reinstall or else the mirror won't function properly. Just take your time and take care not to kink the cables. Take a picture before you start for reference.

I've got a twin post mirror out back I think (?) and I don't know if they're side specific or not.

I have a few pieces of other mirrors and I'm thinking I can build another passenger side remote for the convertible, planning on trying it anyway.

I've already done that and removed the mirror. That's how I found the difference.

Well, I learned something today.. I think... or I'm more confused.

Either way, sounds like the cables come out easy.

Hey, join the club....

Yeah, the cables come out easy, just make sure they have matching color codes between the cables and sockets before you start or it's not much fun to get the mirror to do what it's supposed to.

I was wondering how to mark it when I saw faded yellow and red, the green is all but gone. I did notice that it's marked R Y G on the controls, mine has paint on both the cable and the controls, making it easy for me.
