Pea Soup Andersen's, a California institution, traces its roots back to 1924 when Danish immigrant Anton Andersen and his French wife, Juliette, opened a small restaurant in Buellton. Originally named Andersen's Electric Cafe, the restaurant gained fame for its hearty pea soup, inspired by Juliette's French recipe. The popularity of the soup led to a name change and expansion, with the Santa Nella location opening in 1976.

I remember seeing the billboards on the 101 in Ventura, 65 miles away…

The Buellton location is presently closed.
