Restoration Underway 1971 Plymouth Sport Fury GT Canadian Promotional Car - MCG Article

I just got my MCG yesterday and was surprised to see your car in there...it is also rustier than what was mentioned in the for sale ads for the car but it sure looks like you are doing the car the right way.
Good luck with the 1971 Sport Fury GT.

Dave

Trev gave the car a thorough inspection and we knew that there was more rust. Thankfully the doors, fenders and stub frame are all in good shape.

Not much to update. Progress is being made. The dash pad is at ABC getting done and the seats are at the Upholstery shop getting the SMS seat covers installed. Still a lot of work ahead so the car will not be at Carlisle this year. I will be in swap meet space K180 if anyone wants to stop by.

Here is an update on the restoration.

Bob @ ABC Moparts is almost finished with the dash pad. He just needs to paint the speaker grilles for the 2 front speaker grilles. The car has a factory AM/FM Stereo with 4 speakers.

The upholstery shop is almost finished restoring the seat frames and then will install new foam and the SMS seat covers.

The front clip is mostly removed so that the sub-frame can be pulled and restored. Here are some photos.

@FURYGT
What is the significance of the second picture on post 27? Where there is no undercoating and your pointing it out. Are we looking at evidence of a blocking board installed to stop the over spray from getting everywhere in the assembly line?

Following along.

On Fuselage C Body's the cowl and other areas in the engine compartment are body color while most of the engine compartment is black. This photo shows the sloppy paint work with black paint over-spray on the cowl.

Question, is possible for you to confirm the bolts that connect the outer cirumference of the wheel housing/ inner fender to the fender opening is 1/4-20 x what length? And when your ready to pull the wheel housing off the stub, the self tapping/ drilling bolts are 5/16. The assembly manual seems incorrere. Tia

More photos. No matter how good of an inspection you have done before you buy it there can still be hidden rust issues.
