This ol’ guy was taking off of the Inyokern strip right as we pulled up. Sorry about the vid - I wanted to watch it NOT film it. Enjoy...

That's badass! There's one that comes to Deer Valley Airport yearly for flights/tours. Probably the same bird since there are only a couple airworthiness units left. It's quite a treat when you hear it flying over.

I think it’s only FiFi and Doc. I read somewhere they sporting the hotrodded engines off of Skyradiers.

Back in the 90’s we had the honor of meeting the crew of a real famous B29. I bought the poster for $90 (crazy money for me back then) and never regretted it. We got to chat a bit as they signed it. Those gentlemen were a real class act.

FiFi and Doc are the only two flying B-29s left. There are other incomplete/non-flyable B-29s in the world that are still left (I believe five others). I've laid eyeballs on both FiFi and Doc; they are magnificent aircraft that will bring a tear to your eye.

Two cousins of mine were aircrew on B-17s that flew out of England during WWII. One was a waist gunner, and the other, a tail gunner. I have a couple of pics of them by their planes. I got to see the B-17G at the Boeing Air Museum several years ago. It's parked next to the Concorde - talk about two extremes! Gotta tell ya, standing next to the B-17 brought me to tears, it moved me that much. An incredible machine! And incredible men that flew them.

I had a great Uncle that flew 30 Missions in 17s in the 8th Air Force. My Aunt, his sister, flying for the WAC ferried 17s to England from the US. What she WANTED to do was join her brother is bombing the Nazis, but, of course, they wouldn't let her.
