For those of you who were refugees from the Drydock or Moparfins forums, the C body community lost one of it biggest champions this morning. His daughter just reached out to me with this message:

"Hello, You reached out to me regarding my Dad Steve, I wanted to let you know that he passed away this morning. He is at peace finally."

RIP Steve, you were a great man.

Here's when Steve visited me back in 2011. R.I.P. Steve.

Knew Steve pretty well from back in the MoparFins days, Leaburn just reached out with this news, he used to stop in on the way to see Steve in NJ on a regular basis and sometimes carried stuff back and forth. Sorry we lost him. He sure had some interesting projects like Polaraco and the '62 Blue Diamond. Not sure if he still had any. RIP Steve.

Lea: tried to PM you here but your mailbox is full, sent
eMail instead.

Good to see you Chris, we're moving to Denver in May so
we'll be much closer! take care...

I lost a good friend today.
When I started the Boab, Steve was the first one of the Dry Dock guys to reach out to me.
We just clicked.
Over the years I made countless trips driving 6 hours one way to Joisey.
Whether it was for a week,or long weekend, I stayed at his and Elaine's house where we worked on something together.

Not to mention the crazy road trips we did.

The past 5 years Steve's health was on the decline.
Yet his mind was still sound.
If anybody knows Steve, not being able to work on anything frustrated the hell out of him.
My last visit was October 2024.
I had to take him to Emergency one night.
He joked with the nurses!
IT was hard to see him in the state he was in.
Our last phone call it was obvious he was not good.
I wanted to make one ladt trip but could not go.
Just as well becuase I know it would break my heart to see my friend,my mentor not well.

So all I have are good memories, lots of pics, and a garage full of tools he wanted me to have to start up our new garage.
Steve is at peace now..but up in heaven he is probably re- engineering the operations of heaven's gates!!

See you on the other side Hobby.

I can't like this post enough Lea. Like you, my heart hurts tonight.

I am not at home, so I do not have access to the pictures of me having dinner with Steve in Newark io 2013. I was flying to Israel and had a several hour layover there. Was good to see him again.

He bought the '62 New Yorker I had in 2003. We became friends after that. My family and I stayed with he and Elaine at their home in 2007 after our week in New York City. We then drove to meet with him in Oregon where he was viewing the progress (supposedly) on the '62 being done by a friend of his there. I would drive up to Oregon some time later to help him load the remains of the New Yorker onto his flatbed trailer to take it to Jersey. That's where Dave Carr met us.

Although we talked often over the years, the last time I saw him was in Vegas for his Daughter's wedding. We had a good time.

He will be missed.
