Roll tide victory parade......

I know a lot of people in attendance were college kids. Did you get a lot of inquiries on the car and any requests to open the hood?

OK I've got to ask. How did your boot cover hold up under all that weight? Did the bead channel bend or plastic housing on the seat back crack? I wouldn't even let Ms Alabama let her butt get near my boot cover.

Fred!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dammit. Don't be so anal.
If I was invited to escort Miss Anything in a parade, I'd let her stand on my trunk with high heels.
We're talking how proud he should be and you're worried the car.
Anything that would make me hero for a few days, I'm in blindfolded.

The recognition is all right but I don't need a parade or a bimbo for validation particularly if it means damage to my baby.

I had it covered Fred. This wasen't my first rodeo, (or parade),..... I placed a couple of thick blankets on the folded top under the boot and another two blankets on top of the boot.... plus covers on the rear seat bottom and back.
No stellito heal marks anywhere even if miss shakey bottom wanted to dance up there.

I think these cars need to be used and enjoyed, with a reasonable amount of care. But sometimes S**t happens and thats just part of it. I just spent most of the last year refinishing this car and if it gets scratched, dented or whatever while enjoying it then i'll just fix it and go on enjoying it.

If you feel the need to be over protective.... stand guard over the car, or keep it in a garage under a cover out of everybodys sight then your missing the point. (IMHO).
I got this car reassembled in November, (still a work in progress), and have put 2500 miles on it since then. I plan on having to fix some things. I get more pleasure out of the build then having to maintain it once it's finished.

Yeah... lots of interest in the car. Some of the players went crazy over it... wanted to drive it in the parade.... I told them we were very proud of them...... just not THAT proud. I did open the hood for a couple of guys who asked to see the engine, they don't get many opportunities to see a 440.
The "IMPORTED FROM DETROIT" tag got a lot of attention too.

Nice!!!!

Will, is it possible to hook us up with the person that made that "IMPORTED FROM DETROIT" plate. I think it would be pretty cool for a bunch of us to be lined up side by side at Carlisle with that great plate on the front bumper.

We ordered it through a local trophy shop here, who had it made somewhere. I'll get the contact info.
It wasen't cheap...... Made from billet aluminum on a CNC machine it appears. I'll get with the guy and see if we can get some kind of quanity discount.....
Who all's interested here....?

There may be some kind of copyright thing owned by Chrysler, no one would tell me for sure. All I know is that no one is offering them for sale, not even Chrysler.
It sure does attract a lot of comments though.

Chrysler stopped a guy from selling Made in Detroit Tee shirts. But here's the problem. He had been printing them for years as a promotion for another Detroit attraction or something.

Sounds like you took reasonable precautions. Your car is a beauty and deserves the recognition. Congrats.

I found this on line. Not sure how they got the copyright to the slogan ...Good lawyers I guess.
I don't think theres much they can say about producing a license plate for personal use. Just not for sale for profit. BUT..... Who gives a F***

I did find a "EXPORTED FROM DETROIT" tag for $20.00.... Not as nice though.

I just don't understand why Chrysler doesn't make and sell an Imported From Detroit plate similiar to Will's. They would sell a ton of them.

Too busy aprehending others who do so I guess and maybe at a higher profit. They don't care a lot these days about heritage I guess, same thing with European GM and Ford subsidiaries. For a 70s BMW or Mercedes you can get about any part including lots of sheetmetal right from the dealership in OEM qualtiy.

I think the jury is still out. The Italians just bought the Mopar brand and I'm sure most of them haven't got a clue what it's all about. Does anyone know about the aftermarket of vintage Fiat parts? Also telling will be what they do with the Challenger.

No Fiat guy, but from what I know from the manufacturer itself there's no parts support for vintage cars, but for the most popular models there is a great aftermarket, for the old 500 microcar for example I guess you could nearly build a new one from scratch.

The Chrysler corp of today is NOT the same chrysler corp that built our Cbodys back in the day. I guess heritage dosen't pay well.
