rusing single field alternator or dual field alternator

I have a 67 Newport custom
currently a single field alternator with solid state regulator (old style) not mopar 70s version
i have a bad alternator
should i 1 convert to newer mopar regulator and dual field alt
or 2 should i try to find a single field alternator (having trouble finding one)

You can put a dual field alternator on your car with the regulator you have. All you will do is ground the second field on the alternator that you are putting in and it will work just like a single field alternator and be much easier to find.
