RVSlideout floor replacement

Looks like this is turning out great. I love the sense of pride that comes with the sweat equity of doing things myself. Great work on your project!

Yes it is satisfying.

My girlfriend asked me why I didn’t hire someone to do the job. I told her that I could probably find somebody but it would be months before they would take it and it would take them months and probably cost over $10,000.

I have watched some YouTube videos from a guy that does this for a living down in Arizona and did learn some things from him on how to do this. However, my experience and working on aircraft wiring and test equipment has paid off handsomely in this experience.

Not done.
I have to attach the trim strips on the slide out perimeter.
They were held in with silicone and a couple of wire brads.
I am going to Velcro them on using 1” wide strips.

I finally decided to quit this evening as my eyes hurt and I might botch the Velcro effort.
I will finish it up on Monday as I am taking tomorrow off.

Fixed the dash air conditioning.
Compressor clutch connector was disconnected and melted.
Reconnected and tied it in place with zip ties. Woo hoo!

Made it uneventfully to Tucumcari, NM. Getting about 6.5 MPG average, which I think is good.

Tomorrow, we head to Alamogordo via Roswell. Never been to Roswell before. 8^)

Toured the Stanley Hotel today and FO Stanley and his brother were geniuses.

Did you know that they made their fortune on coming up with a dramatic new way to create pictures? They sold it to Eastman.
Additionally, the steamer in the picture was a domestically sold car. The government imposed right hand drive vehicles to be sold in the US in 1911, a year after the car was produced.
