Okay guys I was in C body candy store today as I went out to a demo derby guys place and looked at his piles and piles of stuff and stacks of cars. I endured wasp stings and burn weed but it was all worth it as I did some great parts swapping to get stuff I need for my verts. Check out this Polara 4 door painted top car. It was a local city cop car and the tag is WEIRD I showed it to Dave already and we can't figure out several of the codes on it and look at the FM41 on a polara?? It is clearly a 4 door polara and the painted roof V02 code on it for the white top. anyone have any idea?? What is A71???

I will post that tag first so it does not get mixed up with the fury tag which is the 2 tag (special order) pic as it was the green 4 door car and it has the stuff like battery shield.

Cool stuff to see today and I hate to say he is cutting up the 4 door polara for me so I can get the floor pans and trunk pan out of it as it is THE cleanest metal I have ever seen in that car. The quarters were shot on the car but the floor is still 100% original paint and not even surface rust!

It looks like it was the end of the road for the Polara anyways....

Thanks for sharing!

does either have the dash mounted oil pressure gauge (in place of the clock)? another thing to look for are factory bumper guards and a wire X shaped mounted by a single screw ahead of the radiator support on the passenger side that would be for people out of gasoline and a hose runs from a T in the fuel line and a clear hose is wrapped in a circle the X shaped metal

Both are Police cars, no question. The Polara tag is all over the map.........You"ve had me scratching my head since mid noon...

I know I have not seen codes like that and I tried a decoder I use that is pretty good and got several "unkowns" back on them. A71 really has me scratching my head. I am sure I could get you that tag if you want it before they dispose of what is left when the floors are out

They had the polara really stripped down and the dash was gone, the fury was still all there but I did not look for the oil gauge as I forgot. I can ask him tomorrow if it is still there

Youre killing me, all the cars we talk about and you havent looked for me? How bout the 140 speedometer?

Yes the dash pad is in the deal I swapped him for so once he gets it all stripped out and to me I can get that over to you. Might be a little while but maybe he is faster than I think. All depends on how fast he can plasma that floor pan and trunk out. LOTS of spotwelds there!!

I dont need it for several months.... dont worry about the timely manor. As long as it is a 3 speaker dash, and it has R22 on the tag so I presume it is

I could not get in that fury to look too well as it was sandwiched against another and that is right when I got into the burn week and stung by a wasp at the same time! I am sure it is still there and I will have him jerk those off for me when he strips it as it sounds like that will be soon. Email on what you would pay for it as you know how I said he was on prices!:icon_lol::icon_lol:

Yep I checked that one and it was, not real bad shap either but had some splits

Those look like some great road warriors, too bad there being taken out in a mud pit to be beat to death!!

Yeah but in reality it is a good thing, kind of, as he has stockpiled all the parts off them for 30 years and he has a plethora of stuff that otherwise would have went with the rusty hulk to the crusher on alot of these cars. More parts easier to access for us to use on our cars that WILL be on the road and to help bring some back that otherwise would not have the parts.

I sent you a pm.

The 70 Polara has an interesting tag.
It was built for Canada (Y07).
The A71 is listed as "Polara special package". I have no clue what it did include back then and no further info about it.
The VIN will simply be a misprint ("F"). Things like that happened a few times. I have seen a few cars with it, Barry W. collects those, too.

I agree. Look at the relationship between "D" and "F" on a keyboard. There's no indication on the tag that this car was built as a 'cop car'.

So I know I'm about a month late to this conversation, but it seems promising. I know derby guys love the 74-77 formal C-Bodies. Any chance you could talk to your contact there and find out if he has a 14o 1974 certified speedo for a Monaco or Fury, or the police/taxi specific upper door panels?
