The thing that I didn't like about some cars with fins was that the fins appeared to have been put there just so the car could have them. To me, they didn't really look like they belonged on the car. I like fins when they actually flow from the style of the body, from the lines. Like this...

I actually like these inside out fins.

The style of tailfins, or the entire car, for that matter, is just personal preference, kind of like whether you prefer blondes, brunettes or redheads. :laughing7:

So the "flat" fins on the Chevy and Ford work to assist...horizontal stability upon terra firma?
I honestly do not know WHAT to make of the Dodge. Is that a real tire in that hump?

LOL! I've never seen the inside of the trunk of one of these but, I doubt if there's a tire up there. I would think it would have to be in the deck lid and that would make the lid too heavy to open for most people.

For a long time I thought these 69-73 C-bodies were the best looking cars on this planet. I still do... BUT now, when I'm older, I've learned to love older cars equally. To me, mopars with fins and fuselages are as desirable.

Can't compare the different era cars. I could never make up my mind on one favorite car of all times, not even a decade as a 61 is completely different from a say 67 my car.

I couldn't agree more, but since I have had some of both for a long time, I would say they are equal in desirability for different reasons and that hasn't changed over the years.

There ere some very beautiful finned cars built during that era. Some of them I am actually seeing for the first time, in pictures, and occasionally at cruise nights.

For example, I have never seen one of these on the streets. I'm lovin' the hardtop wagon.

Can't think of any wagon of the 50s-70s I don't like. Even the first Generation Valiant is not so bad as a wagon, the sedan is another Story though.
