I called my scrap guy today to come pick up the Coronet I have stripped & along with some other misc scrap. He usually gives me $100.00. He said prices where .5 cent a pound & there was no money in it for him. Said he got $135.00 for a complete Taurus last week. Plus I have 2 more cars nearly done. Wow what to do.

Buy cinder blocks and place in the yard?

Move to neighbors property, call the county/city and complain about abandoned cars?

Put an ad on craigslist for $100 rare Coronet for sale?

my junkyard charges 350$ for a car I junked a 71 charger shell and got a whopping 7$ for it I can almost retire now but I usually have a junk guy come and take my stuff he is a crook but that shouldn't be surprising im pretty sure he stole some of my dads mounted fish

Wonder why so high up there. We can't get crap for junk down here anymore either.
And they won't even take it without a title...
This is BS! :soapbox:

The local scrap yard said if it is just parts he could take it, Sawzall in hand it became parts, problem solved.

Same in the UK it's about £150 quid so pretty much the same a few years ago you had to pay the scrappy to take it off your hands

A guy I work with scraps and last week he brought in a load he figured was a ton, he got $62 for it.

What I don't get is how these guys will drag a trailer up and down every alley looking for scrap metal, I just don't see the payback.

I got a demo guy who wants all 3. Told me he had cash in hand. Man I hate to do that. I really do. And I have a local guy who wants it for the frame to fix his convertable. He is taking too long. Looks like I will sit on it.

Yep, scrap is down 70% from a year ago, down to $.03 per pound at the place I usually go to. The good news, is that the yards with classic cars will stop scraping them and go back to pulling parts for sale. At least the yards that are left.

I know the prices fluctuate quite a bit, on our farm we collect the steel scrap and wait till the prices are worth messing with. but we have a back 40 so we don't have to look at it. :)
