Help! New to this forum, and on the search for a 'water valve for the Auto Temp 2 system'. That's what I'm told this is...any suggestions on where to track one down? It's for my 73 New Yorker Brougham - been in the family since brand new.

Very nice reproductions, actually upgraded controllers and amplifiers are available from Performance Analysis Company. I have had one in my 72 Imperial for almost 10 years now and still going strong. Chrysler sold the patent for the system to Mercedes Benz in the early 70s and they adopted the system, but also upgraded it with better parts so it would actually last more than 2 years before cracking and leaking coolant everywhere.

Performance Analysis Co.

Thanks so much for the help and the extra detail! I'll check them out and post an update when I find one

Great tip. Unfortunately that gent is on holidays for a bit. What are the consequences of removing the unit temporarily while I wait for the replacement to arrive, by simply reconnecting the hoses with an insert to bridge the gap?

That would not affect anything and you would avoid losing any coolant while you are waiting. You just would not have any heating/cooling of course unless you bypass the system temporarily.

Don't ask me how I know, but the heat will work, (no shutting it off without installing some kind of valve) however you don't have to run the blower. Or you could loop it. If you have some half inch copper pipe you can use that to connect the two pieces of 5/8's heater hose. You'll need a 5/8's to 1/2 inch adapter for the return line. Also you'll be safe running straight water until the mercury starts dropping, another few months. While you're waiting for your new part, which they don't give away, around 600

USD, plus exchange. Worth it and not really any other option without hack modding it. Apologies for the dual post. Was just about done and the thing started glitching up on me.

My experience with Performance Analysis was excellent! The owner/operator, George Murphy Is very knowledgeable and helpful. My valve has lasted over 10 years and still works perfectly. He also makes an improved amplifier (the brain of the system) that has been working just as long. It also speeds up the system operation.

Performance analysts sold me the amplifier for my AutoTemp II in my 78 NYB.... great guys and very knowledgeable.

WOW! I am very grateful for the assistance - and once again very thankful that I spoke to the gentleman at the World of Wheels show in earlier this year. If not for you alerting me to the community, I'd be at a loss. To the members that have viewed my post - and especially for those that gave advice - I thank you profusely. This has strengthened my resolve to keep this one in the family for a third generation. However, if I do need to sell it, I know there's a passionate group still out there that appreciates this example of automotive history.
