I wanted to thank member Halifax's for the quality distributor he provided me with.
Ray was a pleasure to deal with, a real honest guy and very helpful with his advise.
His distributor I bought was rebuilt the right way. He used all quality parts made in our country.
To say I'm happy and impressed is a understatement
I highly recommend him.
Thanks Ray!!!!!!

That reminds me I too have to get one too for my new engine.
Did you stay with points or go electronic?

I decided to go with points. Ray told me if he doesn't have NOS points, he does have other quality points and condenser. The aftermarket points with the junk that comes from overseas was a big concern.
Ray and I discussed that, my feelings were back in the day buying ignition tune up parts didn't require a trip to the dealer. Plenty of quality parts were available at the local auto parts. My favorite was Blue Streak and their parts never let me down.
I just decided to go old school with using points. I have another distributor set up with a Petronix and I will be keeping it in the trunk, just in case.
The Firecore distributor I was using was a huge disappointment. The first ignition box was no good and the second caused me much trouble as my car had a poor idle and I never suspected the box.
I bought a cheap box from a chain auto parts store and tried that. It was a improvement but still not great.
When I installed a stock distributor with the Petronix the car ran much better. It accelerated better.
I wanted a top quality rebuild that was set up on a distributor machine and that's what I got.
Will be installing it asap.
Thanks to other members for the help

If you understand them and how to set them, points are just fine for a stock engine.
I bought a motorcycle for cheap in high school because the previous owner didn’t understand how points worked and how to set them. A Suzuki 125 with a two speed gear box.
