Sister needs a daily driver. Whattya think?

Buick Lucerne. I got my dad's 2009 4 or 5 years ago and love it. We love it so much that this past December we bought another one for my wife. A 2009 loaded including sunroof, heated and cooled seats, Nav system and power everything. Bought for less than trade in value (<$9k) with 60,000 miles. Very good in snow with snow tires, which are a must if she lives in an area that gets snow. The Lucerne is basically a Buick body and engine on a Cadillac chassis. The Buick V6 is a reliable engine while the Caddy Crapstar V8 goes south at 100k or so.

A Dakota or Durango is another good choice IMHO as is any VW Diesel. There are some bargains out there on Diesel VW's that were taken back by VW and have had the recall work done.

Personal experience allows me to recommend these 2.

Why is it that whenever someone asks for a recommendation for a used car, these two names always come up? Despite all the brain washing and conditioning we get from various media outlets, they really are no more reliable than most American cars. And when they break, they are much more expensive to repair. Also, how are you gonna haul four people and their luggage on a 300-mile trip in comfort in one of those ****-boxes?

I never thought I would drive let along own a "foreign" car. When I met my current wife she had a '92 Accord. I didn't drive it much because I couldn't fit comfortably in it. Easy to work on, parts are no more expensive than any other. We gave that car to our daughter for our grandaughter to drive (high school student). That car is still going strong with over 400000 miles on it. We bought a 2004 Acura TSX. I love it. My 6'4", 250 lb butt fits with a ton of room for me. We have 270000 on it. I'm sold on Honda/Acuras. Not pratical for Drpreposterous' sister as she needs something roomier.
