Snowmageddon

For some reason, the weather people have taken to predicting the worst possible weather. It's gotten insane.

Now they close the schools based on the forecast.... and we even had a "state of emergency" called by our dumbass governor last year before a predicted storm. We got a couple inches and that's it.

We are really used to getting snowed on. It's part of life here and it doesn't slow much down. With the exception of the local schools, nothing closes.... Nothing.... That means getting to work on time is expected etc. We average 10' annually and get the most snow of any major city in the US. I've gotten so I ignore the forecast and deal with it as I go.

Weather Underground has been as good as any forecast for me... but if I plan to do stuff outside I pull up noaa radar and just keep tabs myself... fast changing weather here and forecasting is not the better info usually.

Snow days were for school kids... grown up are expected in all but natures very worst. Here its hurricane season storms, and they don't happen too often... you just need to stay off the roads as the sustained winds pick up... they start closing bridges at 40MPH.

about 4 inches here in Boston MA area. We got clobbered here last year. I was on my roof shoveling.

Now an old man, I don't want to dig out of where I am. I heard 10 died shoveling. I can envision that as a former snow thrower as a kid. It can get the heart rate up without sweating. Tricks you.

Shoveling snow this week kicked my ***. My brother warned me not to do it and to hire the local kids to shovel. I might have to do that (I'm 60) with future storms. I'm fine but I want to be around to drive my Formal's for a long time....

I've had a guy doing mine for a few years now.

Shoveling snow is the "perfect storm" for heart attacks. Lot's of people drop dead doing it.

That's why there is a big Ariens snowblower in the shed.

I try to do as little shoveling as possible, the porch, the walk, the rest I get with the trucks snow blade.

I have a small 2 stroke snowblower but it was no help with the 30" storm.

Last winter after I turned 60 I broke down and got a snow blower. No point in pushing my luck and I enjoy using it.
