Yes but in the distributor cap thread we're taking about blue streak being junk now
 
Common problem in today's world. Parts brands that were quality, and we used because of that, got bought out by another company and the product went to s#*t in order to save money and increase profits for a bigger return on their investment. It takes a few years for the public to realize this though and by then the company is pretty much run into the ground or sold off to another company.
 
Blue streak was always ford blue. Coils, caps, rotors, etc.

I’ve got some new blue streak parts. And they label says made in China on a horn relay.
 
the environmental regulations (the oil filled) and cost drove the coil business out of the US. I don't know if any are made in the US anymore, so it is a crap shoot.
 
My convertible came with an olde Blue Streak coil. It’s noticeably different than the new one pictured.

I replaced it along with all the rest but there must be a way to test it?
 
Caps are junk . I bought one for my 70 300 last year . It doesn't sit on the distributor right . .

EXACTLY THE SAME **** PROBLEM I HAD W MY LAST Bloo Streek. Pity what the money pigs do to good companies built by SKILLED LABOR!!!

Use a GOOD ohmmeter to test the resistance of the primary and secondary windings for starters. If they read spec, (about 1.4 ohms primary I think, then try it out.)

IFF you want a QUALITY coil, AVOID ACCEL AND MSD , and try a Crane PS20. Those are supposed to be U.S.A. made. Taylor Cable ALSO still makes stuff Stateside. I might go with them.

OR, go for a Japanese made coil. Shop carefully there too though. Like this country, their corrupt mis-leaders have permitted core industries top be grabbed by slave-states.

Back in the earlier 1990s, I was suspecting that a coil was failing, so being GM car, I ordered a new ACDelco one. Came with a generic black housing with no "normal" markings on it, other than a part number. On the bottom was a small "Made in China" sticker. The new coil made no difference in performance so I put the OEM production coil back on the engine.

At this point in time, I suspect most all of the coils are made in the same factory "somewhere over there", unless the company claims otherwise. As always, quality can be more important than where they are made. Just depends upon the specs of the purchaser and what they are willing to pay for, plus what price point the product will be sold at. Back then, "junk" could come from many places, including the USA factories, unfortunately.

PLENTY crap has been excreted by U.S. companies to be sure, with a disproportionate amount of it getting pushed into foreign markets, though "lemons" come to mind when I think of the automotive industry of the late 1970s in particular here.

Be this as it was, and is, we have several centuries of data on imperialist capitalism, and most folks do the same thing: "keep the good stuff for home" and export the lower quality to the "foreign devils." With that in mind, and having been burned more when buying products from certain countries more than others, I try to shop closer to the homeland, despite its many egregious sins. With this in mind, I also try to shop according to period.

I'd buy a Standard coil if in a hurry, under a tight budget, and wanting a "decent" deal, but my next coil for Mathilda probably will come from Taylor Cable.
