I love the early 60's Mopars! That 1960 Polara looks very cool!

UGH, sorry, I know there are those who think otherwise, but IMHO that is the ugliest face/front end ever put on a mopar. The rear is ok, but jeezus.....the front is a disaster. It LOOKS like an angry face, what with those "eye brows"......EXNR, my man you screwed that one up.

Oh c'mon now...the "council" knows I'm mopar all the way thru.....BUT ya gotta admit, that's not one of ol Ex's better works. He was angry at something or someone the day he was sketching that front end.....

You can't see the beauty in this???

The 60 Matadors and Polaras are underestimated in my opinion and even the new car buyers preferred the Darts of that model year. Keep that newer model underneath for yourself, Stan.

I admit reading this at the moment.

Um ...not so much.
I like to consider myself a proponent of rational, balanced and serene design. I see none of this in that picture. IMHO the "tailfin" era represented the last hoorah for the "anything goes" mantra, in the singular name of soliciting a visceral response from the consumer,... before sobriety began to take hold with the advent of the slab cars. For me the fuselage era was the herald of designers seriously contemplating such things as aerodynamics and efficiency in design.

There are different design cycles where I can find beauty in design starting around the time design played a role in mass production, around the time H. Earl opened the GM Art and Color Section. Hard to compare these decades to each other. Younger generations often can*t relate to the older designs; I can to some extent.
Can also relate to European designs for obvious reasons. Just don't mix them, mostly doesn*t work out.

The definition of form follows function. Some of the most beautifully executed designs of all time.

Sure. My office lamp happens to be one relict of these times that I dug out of one archive room here in the basement. Many timeless designs from that era and 50s furniture design and architecture was often inspired by Bauhaus over here.

These early VW buses with glass in the headliner are going for 40-50 k EUROS now over here in near perfect condition if factory original. Don't know how they're priced in the US but many are being brought back to Europe.

There was a 23 window VW Bus that sold for @ $150k a year or two ago at Barrett-Jackson.
