The US 40 bridge in St. Charles, MO wore some paint from my 65 SF from when I sideswiped it one night meeting a Metro bus at the curve.
That bridge was built about 1903 and originally had a wooden deck for trolleys. It burned and was replaced with a steel grate deck. It was barely wide enough for two vehicles to pass. Trucks had to fold in their mirrors when they met.
The bridge soldiered on with a restricted load limit until it was replaced with a 6 lane bridge just north of town in the early 90s.

Back about 1965 or so the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) had one of those box type radars that they used on the, then brand new, 403 highway into Hamilton from Toronto. The cop would set the box on the shoulder and he would hide in the bushes along the road. One afternoon I was motoring in my 64 Fury following a big *** transport. All of a sudden the trailer swung about 3 or 4 feet left and then swung back towards the shoulder. All I saw was this box sailing through the air trailing a big wire and a cop running out of the trees waving his arms around. Must have been a wind gust. I guess he wasn't happy!
