Not the Casino, but I do recall an Amusement Park.

There was also an amusement park.
The casino hosted many big name folks like Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, the Chaffons, to name a few. It burned to the ground in the late 60's or 70's in a spectacular fire.
I think it inspired the song "Fire Lake" by Bob Segar.
Some of my earliest memories of first concerts are of there.

We moved to West Bloomfield in 63 and the Casino burned a few years later maybe 65 or 66. I can recall driving by the closed Amusement Park as a child. My H.S. gang went down to Edgewater Park.

Oh!
And to bring us back to a Mopar related thread. First time I locked keys in a car was Dad's 71 Satellite Sebring at Edgewater. Is that the year Mopar changed the door locks?

This is what I found on it.
  • Seger eventually stated that it is about a lake in Michigan called Silver Lake. He told Toledo Free Press in March 2011: "It was written about Silver Lake in Dexter, about being in the Pinckney-Hell-Dexter area."

That makes sense. I spent a lot of time partying in the Pinckney/Dexter area back in the day. I Lived on Pleasant Lake outside of Ann Arbor.
There was a ranch/farm in Dexter where many a party was held and Bob Segar was there a lot, as was I. I had a Harley 45 three wheel chopper then and Bob loved it. Fire Lake started with "Who's gonna ride that chrome three wheeler" and I still think my trike was the inspiration.

Very cool Will!

It was the summer of 69. Probably the pinicle of my life.
Home from Viet Nam in March. Took delivery of my first NEW car, a A12 Road Runner, the three wheeler, Many weekends on the road with Wally Booth campaigning a factory SS/E street hemi Super Bee. And those wild parties in Dexter.
Seger was always there, (this is before the Silver Bullet band). I suppose there were several other music celibs there, but I didn't pay much attention to that. I did get to know Chris Campbell, Future base player in the bullet band and an avid Mopar guy. I remember hitting on Bob's cousin, I did get her phone number, LOL. But never called or went out with her.
All a memory now, and no regrets.

(PIC OF JAMES EARL RAY AND SIRHAN SIRHAN ON THE FRONT COVER) I have an original copy in my stash, Jer
