Barris was at this location from about 1950-1961, it was 2.5 miles from my dad's home, he was 10-21 during that time. After school and weekends he would hang out there and see some of the classic Barris customs being built. My father did well in designing his own customs (on paper and in scale), probably never went that way and ended up in Architecture as a family came early (19).
