I remember when K Marts used to always open up beside Dominion grocery stores (in Canada), now both chains are gone. The Clark's stores were around when I was a little kid. They became Gambles, then Zeller's and then Target. I remember watching this Safeway store being built. I was four at the time.
Grubee's were a chain of hamburger restaurants in the late '70s. Similar to Burger King of the time, but a bit fancier. Burgers were char-broiled and you had a choice of almost any fixings you could ever imagine in a burger. First time I ever saw a salad bar in a burger joint. I miss Grubee's. Woolco stores were bought by Wal Mart in '94.
I thought that American Woolco stores were gone, but I didn't know when they closed. That makes sense though. America already had WalMart, but Canada didn't.
