My dad told me he and his buddy used to ride the rail to town by lowering air pressure in the tires, which then gripped the rail. Then he’d air them back up when they got to town.

Seems that stretch of rail was disused or only used during certain times or something.

I thinking it may have been a 50 Chevy
 
Come to think of it, and responding to my post above I do believe that this is Mr. Wheeler's car from back in the day. I remember his son saying that his mom who is Mr. Wheeler's wife was a race car driver and beat everyone with a 6bbl Fury, I would have to ask him now

I found that picture on a Facebook site. . Here is some more information on who owns it and where it was raced.
