I've seen the CHP many timez come screamin' down an on ramp to pace some hot dawg that didn't believe the 70 speed limit signz were meant for them too. The CHP Guyz were artists at that before radar became vogue. Fun to see and always ah surprise lol, JerNotice, car has a roll bar with front support, officer is wearing a racing harness, can't see but they have a helmet as well.
This group from the Los Angeles Police were referred to as the Freeway Flyers, program ended in 69 when CHP took over freeway patrol within LA City.

Betcha you tore the Naugahyde when you puckered when you 1st saw him tho' didn't yah? lol There waz ah fast lane on ramp on the old Santa Ana(I-5 Slauson ave. I think) that used to be a favorite spot for the CHP AND LA County to hang out their SoCal. Talk about hit the ground runnin'? 70+ in half ah foot Ball Field waz slow for those guyz. Some stuff iz hard to forget and funny when we remember aye Will. 30* to start the day today at our Ponderosa. How you holdin' up at your Latitude?I remember being one of those "hot dogs" Jer. On a ramp to I-75, south of Detroit, 1969.
Driving my new A12 Road Runner I stood on it at the top of the ramp, hit the super slab at about the century mark and came out right next to a state trooper going about the same speed. We eyeballed each other, I backed off and he kept going.
Good ole days.........
