NOT MINE Someone needs to save this 1958 Fury

Just what the world needs, another Christine clone ;-). At least it’s saved from the crusher only to return as cheap Chinese goods.

While I've been a long time fan of the Forward look cars, I've only seen the movie Christine one time long ago and don't remember it being some classic movie and certainly not something worth making a clone of the car over.

itd be more interesting to me to do the general lee thing on it instead of yet another christine. i wouldnt though..........

nearly $40 big and then do that?

not judgin'- people free to do whatever they want with their stuff/money.

but really? guess i just dont get it. twice no less with a flood in between.

turns out it really was a "parts car" in a sense, if thats what happens to it, IMHO.

It's interesting, it definitely could have fooled me. I could tell the car had restoration work done but a tacky christine conversion un-done, wow! The dashboard paint looks VERY original and that scotchgrain paint isn't made to the best of my knowledge. The dash on every restored car I see isn't painted quite right, at least not close enough to be mistaken for original. There are lota if little things to flub up when restoring one of these for example the integrated door handles in the door panels and this car was restored pretty damned good IMO. It's really too bad..

Great car and really desirable indeed.
If I had $40k it would be in my garage and staying ''AS IS''...

But folks with big wallets think they is doing the right thing.
Alas NO, fix the water damage and leave WELL Alone...:mob:

The "Christine" thing is played out. The book is better than the movie. I've had people ask me about converting my 57 into a Christine. As someone who has had a 57 Plymouth since 1964, and many other 57 and 58 Plymouths, I would say that red (which this color is not factory) was not particularly popular on these cars. I was always amazed that King did not do any research on the car when he wrote the book as in
a 4 door Fury, Hydromatic transmission, etc. But, like said above it belongs to the buyer and he can do whatever he/she wants. I hope the person is smart enough to not trash the Fury parts.

The buyer of this car seems to maybe be wanting approval from others, rather than preserving the car as it was built.
I'd say it's someone with more money than good judgment. And possibly someone who will run out of money to finish the job and will have 'destroyed' a car in the process?
Regardless of his right to do as he pleases, it is truly a shame to 'erase' the prior owner's efforts and to make a Christine clone.

It's become a cult classic movie over the years, and then perhaps more the car than the movie?
The car was the focus/main character of the movie Christine.
The Dukes of Hazzard - the car wasn't really the star as much as it was a member of hte family, that then got some big scenes.
The Blue Brothers - aside from the big chase scene, the car wasn't the star of the movie like other 'car' movies.
