My Uncle has a similar truck. I believe it is a '42.

reminds me of learning to drive in this rig . 14 and ready . my family cut christmas trees to sell on a sales lot . we cut and loaded every tree . up to a few hundred fur and pines from the logged over mountains here in the siera's . that pic of the door open and the look of that interior just pulled me right back . they were fun times .

Cummins Diesel, Modern Chassis, Jerr-Dan wrecker flat bed= Great C-Body towing machine.
Yes I would pull apart a single axle straight truck/bobtail, or a school bus. Modern air brakes, normal ten bolt hub piloted wheels and radial rubber.
Oh and almost forgot air ride rear and parabolic front springs, none of that God awful 6-8" tall stack of springs that does not bend if you put 10 ton on it.

That truck doesn't need to exceed 45 MPH. But if you feel the need, change the rear end ratio.
It has a 2 speed rear in it already.
Yes it should no be going over 45 mph as the brakes are horrible.
Bad brakes on anything are a bad idea no matter how slow you drive, it's the other people that you need panic stop brakes for.

The only reason I'd drive it on 680 is simply to piss off all the Tesla, Mercedes, BMW and Escalade owners driving 75+

It would be very rare if it were a '42 and likely built in '41 being a civilian truck.

The '41 was the first year for the wide set headlights and they remained unchanged for '46 & '47.

Here's my Dad's '46 1/2 ton & '47 2 ton for those that didn't see them from an earlier thread...
