I agree, based on the uniformity of the markings maybe the oil ring was not installed properly. Looks like the inner ring of the oil ring is making contact with the cylinder. The good thing is the scratches should not be that deep and if you pull that piston and fix it you can just reinstall and run it.is the oil ring messing up?

its oil. I wiped the piston with a rag after I pulled it out, thats why it looks a bit roughI agree with the above posts, but your engine looks dirty as well. If your oil is getting dirty running the piston through the motions it should cleaned. What is the debris on the deck surface?
