I've burnt the crap out of the rear two boots (#7 & #8) from getting to close to the exhaust flanges...they're burned and cracked. Thinking about doing the "straight" boots this go around rather than the "L" shaped Accel 8.0mm wires I have now. Do the straight boots hold up longer?

I went all Accel last time. Tan cap and rotor, and Accel black 8.8 wires. I'm very happy with them.

I too was cooking the rear wires due to the HP manifolds. So I decided to buy four of those header socks.

Been working great for the last couple years. Bit of a paint to get them in and over the 90* boots, but once on they stay put and protect things from the heat.

I use whatever is cheapest on rockauto, as long as silicone since it handles the heat and less likely to crack. I have an older electronic ignition (Crane XR700), so may go to 8 mm wires if I upgrade to HEI ignition.

Yes, the straight boots last longer...that's why the factory used them instead of the 90 degree on the rear plug wires.

All my 440's have straight boots on #7 & #8 with no issues.
