Whatever your preferred term. I need one for my 65 Polara. The rubber coupler on the steering shaft. Who makes this? Or who makes the best one?

Yeah, it looks crappy. Does anyone make ones like the originals? Or do I have to steal the one off of my imperial?

Have you used that one? I may have to see if I can get some measurements on it. Looks right, but says 72+. At 120 bones, I would hate to just gamble on it.

Thanks for the help and the link. We are on the right track so far. :th_krazy:

I was under the impression that the OEM rag joints looked exactly like that Dorman one. Am I wrong?

The one on my 65 looks more like the bouchillon one as well. Thick rubber will metal inserts.

My old 66 Fury had the one that looked the Dorman. Most likely I had a cheap replacement and didn't know it.

Mopar used a thinner rag joint on some of the later models, I see these on E-bay now and then. Only one seller on E-bay has the early thick style and they want $ 190.00! I bought mine on E-bay for $ 30.00 because the guy thought it was a fan spacer.

I thought I replied to this post before.... but I am getting a bit senile.

These are very... very easy to make.... Real "cooper" hockey puck.... 1.90... drill and sleeve... I think am gonna have to start making these and selling..

While this may be true, the hockey puck is made of a much more rigid rubber compound and as such is not as flexible as the original one. In it's location there is the need for a little u-joint action. That being said, I did just that as a temporary measure for about a week.

Durometer the same?

My 68 wagon has the thin style on it. And I know it's original to the car. Most trucks, vans and others had the same thin style rag joint right up into the early 90's.

As suggested, I'd go with a universal joint joint long before I'd drop $150-$200 on a new rag joint.
