Stepping out of the big sand box for good

Well done and welcome to the club! As Peter points out you will have mixed feelings after a few weeks but it really does go away very quickly. I've worked retirement into a totally new life style. For years and years it was up at dawn and go go all day. No more of that crap. Last week Cancritter and Tobias found me happily sitting with my coffee, computer and still in my dressing gown at 3pm! So I got dressed and we checked out the beer rig.
It's a hard life, but someone has to do it!

Congrats on this milestone. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I will be exiting the building that I have been going to for the last 35+ years in 8 months. This year has really been dragging. I am #1 in seniority, so all the guys that I started with and became my friends are all gone. I am ready.

I'm happy I for you. I hope that your retirement is full of blessings and joy. You realize this happened just in time for you to grab the wife and the car and come to Carlisle. Of course from your location you'll have to drive almost all week to get there in time.

Congrats......! I retired in 08 but dabbled in work projects for awhile. I'm now preparing to take retirement seriously. I have to give thought to what day it is when I wake up now.

The 4th was a (dark) anniversary of sorts for me too. 50 years ago, 4th of July 1968, I was in Viet Nam and came under attack from a north Vietnamese battalion. Over 600 rockets and mortar's came down on us and the camp perimeter was over run. I saw a demon that day. I've never enjoyed fireworks displays since.Up until losing Ellie it was the worst day of my life.
Sorry to dump but it helps to talk about it sometimes.

Wow that’s some nasty stuff to look back on. Thanks for the service to your country and I hope peace and joy fills those places that still hurt. Happy continued retirement.

Good advice Peter, I was concerned about that myself. Btw I still need a ride in that purple hemi. Maybe I could talk you into taking me out to Graham’s shop to pick the new rig when it comes in.
Got a rough date yet? BTW, I always check for an open shop door when I drive by.

In 2 years there will be a giant sucking sound here as 80% of the engineering dept. retires.

I have to look at my "smart" phone half the time to figure out what day of the week it is!
