Hi folks,
I'm about to replace the rear springs in my 68 Fury with a set from General Spring. I'm wondering if the spring shackles are original. When I got the car many years ago, there was some talk about it having extended shackles from an unsuccessful attempt to correct the sagging rear. I haven't been able to find dimensions of this part in the service manual or parts catalog. The ones on the car are 5 3/8" long. Does that sound stock? I appreciate any input the FCBO gurus may have...

Thanks!

Good point, should have snapped a pic on the way out the door. I measured it quickly before heading to work but didn't take a picture. Will do that after work.

Sometime questions are easily answered with the Factory Parts Book.

In 1968 ALL C-Bodies used the same shackle (Station Wagon was different)
Interesting, the 68 Imperial used the standard (non wagon) one with the tow package and a third number for the non tow package.

I do have the 1968 parts book but I'll be damned if I can find dimensions for parts such as shackles in it.

Here is a photo of one of the current shackles... it looks stock compared to diagrams in the service manual and parts book, but I'd like to find some confirmation if I could. And if I need to buy that set from Jason, I'd like to get moving on it... what do you guys think?

triple agreement on this one. I just bought a set from springs n' things they look just like these ones pictured above only clean... and new.....:icon_lol:

I agree you have the correct ones. I measured my good used ones there 5 3/8 also.

Jason, thanks a million for measuring them, it's great to have that confirmation. Thanks to everyone for weighing in based on experience as well. Good illustration of what a great resource this site is!

This never would have been answered and confirmed in Moparts without it having gone a week ending up with, ask the guys on fcbo...

Excellent drivetrain talent over there, I admit..
Guys can blow out bellhousing part numbers from begging to end.
Info that applies across the lines.
They built the 4 spd NYB.
