Got a friendly reminder from the DMV the other day about the insurance on the 68. With moving I forgot to turn in my plates and with the move everything was removed for the drawers in my desk and I can't find my copy of the bill of sale. I am hoping that Stormer has his copy but he hasn't answered a PM that I sent him. If anyone has his number could you please give him a call as tell him he has an important message waiting. Glad you all had a great time at Carlisle, I thought about you all several times that weekend.:BangHead:

I'm assuming you are wanting a copy of the bill of sale so you can get the state off your back for no proof of ins on a car no longer have. Isn't there an affidavit form they have that you can sign or write a letter explaining you sold it and when but do not have a copy of a bill of sale?

Have you tried going down there with the plates and turning them over? Below says you only need one for vehicles 72 and later.

Notice of Transfer and Release of Liability

After the sale, remove the vehicle's New York license plates and registration sticker. You can destroy the registration sticker, but you must surrender the plates. If you opt to do this in person, you must visit your local NY DMV office and pay a $1 processing fee. Be sure you receive an FS-6T receipt.
Or, you can avoid the processing fee by surrendering the plates by mail. Send to:
Department of Motor Vehicles
2799 Route 112
Medford, New York 11763

The DMV will mail you an FS-6T receipt.

Bill of Sale

A bill of sale is needed for cars built in 1972 and after, and for other non-titled vehicles, vessels, snowmobiles, and ATVs. You can easily download a copy of this document from our Bill of Sale page.

I suppose it's all moot if Ross can send you a copy of a dated bill of sale

If you have the plates, you can just turn them in without any other paperwork. Get the FS-6 and turn that in to the insurance company and you're home free.

No plates? Not sure on that, but there's got to be a way.

OK... Just looked it up. If you lost the plates, you need to go see the troopers and have one of them put down his donut and fill out a MV-78Blost or stolen plate form.

That should work.

I have the plates and the car was a 68 so I need a copy of the bill of sale...I have it here somewhere, just not sure where.:busted:
Hopefully Ross will get in touch with me before I get hauled off....I had his phone number but its probably with the bill of sale!

The last plates I turned in was for my '53. I still have the car, but I'm no where near ready to drive it.

I tossed the plates on the counter and walked out with my FS-6T and turned that in to cancel the insurance.

My guess he is spending a lot of time on his cars. Nats is next weekend. He planning to be there from Friday to Sunday, I believe.

Close. Not dipped yet but I got the *** end down today.

PM replied....

Can you even pull it into your driveway? A little drop goes a long way, 6 feet out from the axle. :icon_biggrin: What car are you taking to Nats?
