Stub frame swapping

So many frames are interchangeable even with different part numbers too, when all is different is the length of the torsion bars and thus the length of the rear torsion bar mounts. I sold a 68 Chrysler Newport frame to a guy with a 68 Fury which bolt right on. He just had to use the original torsion bars to the Chrysler frame to make it work.
I have to agree. With the stub frames, the user just needs to try it and report the findings. Nine out of ten, he can make it work.

?
Sounded like a legitimate question from a newcomer to C-bodies to me.

The way he said it, I thought he was joking. Changing out the entire front frame to swap an engine?? Will the fenders still fit? Must be joking.

Excuse me for misunderstanding.

Some day someone will show a pic of the P2 frame next to a D/C frame and we'll finally have the definitive answer to this question.
Some day...

Maybe the next person that goes out to visit Murray will bring a decent camera and a tape measure.

How about the next best thing.Taken from the 65 Plymouth FSM and the 66 Chrysler FSM. I don't have a good copy of the 65 Chrysler manual and the download available skips over that section. Unless I'm really mistaken, 66 has to be close for the Chrysler.

I didn't check every dimension, but two that jump out at me is 44 7/16 v. 44 13/16" for the trans mount to the hole (probably for alignment) in the center of the cross member and the 10 3/16 v. 10 7/16" from the t bar CL to the trans mount.

The configuration of the trans mount looks a little different too. That may just be a different mount for the Chrysler or it may be a 65/66 change too.

I'll bet it would be a matter of having the correct trans mount and all else would work.

Awesome!!! Thanks ^^^^^

The reason I am building the Fury is because my great grandfather bought it around 66 and it was given to me when he passed. So it's more of a connection to the fury than just a car.

I'm making it mine but doing all the things he would have liked.

It probably is a 413 or 426 but even if it is a later 440 since it came out of the same year, it should work.
BTDT. I assumed the same thing with my 65. My mistake. It had a 440 in it when I bought it, but it was a 67 without the mounting bosses, and had been put in half-assed only bolted to one ear on the block, so I was short the two mounting bolts on the front. That was the only reason I looked for a 65 block.

So if it's a correct year big block, it should have the mount that bolts to forward bosses?

I am going to order look at this thing and see what's up.

You guys are the experts, what should I verify on this to make sure it's a correct year 440 or big block?

Look on this pad. If it is a 65 it will have an A on it. A 66 will be B, 67 is C and so on.

When i replaced my Stub in my Canadian Polara, I had to use the US length torsion bars since I had replaced the Stube with a US stub frame.
The Fury stub is the same as the Canadian stub frame in the Polara.

So if you do swap stub's you will more than likely need the torsion bars as well.

There is 3 inch difference in length with the Fury bars being the shorter version

So I was right! check the location of the torsion bar mounts in the rear of the stub frame.
