You have to test them hot and cold. If needed I have some good tested ones around.

Of course, my own brain has screwed me over a time or two. I was blaming the hard starting in my Challenger on electronic ignition and it was really just bad wiring. Intermittent, only on start up, took a while to find that one and no parts needed.Everybody has their perferences,and every system have their own faults.
Pertronix or Points? Keep spare points/condensor next to the ballast resistor in glove box..
Electronic Iginition....I keep a spare ECU in the trunk.
Expect the worst,hope for the best...
