Saturday was cool but nice. A gorgeous Fall day, with the leaves starting to show true color change. Got very cold for October overnight. Sunday nite was the start of our continuing ice storm - Icy Apocalypse 2020. That annual event normally happens in January or February, but skipped us this year. After everything else about this dicked-up year, we shoulda known what 2020 had to offer up..

In OK, there is anywhere from a half-inch to an inch of ice, coating everything. Since the leaves had yet to fall, they had all that weight hanging.. Every tree is affected. Every tree. Fences and powerlines are caked in ice. Such a sad sight to see.

I need to see what all the damage is going to cost. Of course, you pay out the *** in premiums, then they always find something in the fine print to stick it to you.

So, took a few pics of the pasture and of the end of my driveway. Looks like this all over the central part of the state. Today is Day Three of running off the generator. The huge limb you see in the driveway pic is draped perfectly over the main power line. We can barely get out of the drive. This. Sucks.

After the May 2003 tornado, we ran off the generator for 32 straight days. Lots of gas runs. Three days is cake.

Stay safe and take care! Yes, it been a messed up year, let's hope and pray 2021 is better.

Hate to see this this soon! A lot of the newer elec generators are now running on natural gas, it seems. Fewer issues than with gasoline!

Take care,

I got a buddy that lives in Altus, looked like he got a heavy dusting of snow to go with the ice.

After six days and one hour, I got the power! With just the generator, we had no well water, since the well is on the shop power. So, up to this afternoon, we had just one shower each. Kinda funky! Nothing like freshly-washed hair and body to make one feel better. And the oven! Cook hot food again! Still have some tree-clearing to do, but that's ok.

Do I miss the gentle hum of a 17-year-old generator running constantly??? Let's see...nope!

Temperature today??? A normal 78 degrees!

Sounds like February weather here in NC. It will be below freezing and throw down a decent snow and/or ice storm one day, then be sunny mid 70s within the week. I actually like it like that.

Power companies from ten states have been working to get everyone back up and running. Pretty impressive!
